$1,200,000 TRUCK COLLISION
A truck driver changed lanes on Highway 114 in Southlake, without looking, striking an automobile occupied by two sisters on their way to work. The impact caused the sisters’ vehicle to spin and be impacted by other vehicles on the highway. Suit was brought against the trucking company and driver, resulting in a settlement in the amount of $1,200,000. A police officer responding to the scene of a motor vehicle collision came upon the accident too quickly. As a result, he struck and killed a good Samaritan in the roadway helping the other accident victims. Our firm brought claims against the city and the underinsured motorist carrier on behalf of the victim’s family. The case was resolved for the statutory limits for municipal claims and the insurance policy limits applicable to the claim. An elastic exercise stretch band with a defective design came apart while being used by a fourteen year old boy. After detaching, the hard plastic piece beneath the handles struck the young man, causing blindness in his right eye. Suit was brought against the Chinese manufacturer and distributor of the defective product, resulting in a settlement in the amount of $425,000. $329,000 VERDICT – COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
Our firm brought suit against a former business partner that failed to pay the disputed amount agreed upon for the sale of our client’s half of the parties’ business partnership. The pre-trial settlement offer was $10,000. The jury awarded a verdict in the amount of $329,000 and the court entered a judgment in the amount of $358,615.07. The Defendants then appealed this case to the Fort Worth Court of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. Our firm handled all the appellate work and successfully maintained a judgment against all Defendants.

An elderly lady was walking her dog in her neighborhood one morning when she fell because a neighbor’s home builder had removed the sidewalk and failed to mark or provide warning of its removal.
